The wedding invitations play an important part in your weddings as a way to convey critical information to guests. Accordingly, not only do we need beautifully designed invitations which are properly worded but also we are to send them out at the right time. The key to this matter is to avoid mailing them out too early or too late. That is to say, you should help guests reserve enough time for booking travel and accommodation while ensuring the span not being too long.
Then, when actually should we send wedding invitations? Follow WIP to have a look.
The Formal Wedding Invitations
1. When to send SAVE THE DATE Cards?
Traditionally, couples tend to send SAVE THE DATE cards three to four months before the wedding. For a destination wedding, the span is extended to about six months in advance.
2. When to send Wedding Invitations Cards?
Mail out your wedding invitations 6-8 weeks before the wedding, allowing guests several weeks to make travel arrangements. For a destination celebration, you can send out STD’s as soon as you have your wedding date nailed down or at least 3 months beforehand.
3. How to set the RSVP timeline
Usually, we suggest setting your RSVP timeline for about two to three weeks before your day and six weeks before destination weddings. What you do at this point helps you ensure time to plan seating charts, design escort cards, and give your caterer and venue a final headcount.
Invitations of Engagement Party, Bridal Shower, Bachelorette Party and Rehearsal Dinner
1. What is the definition of these wedding parties and when to hold them accordingly?
Engagement Party- within two to three months of the engagement.
As the name indicates, the engagement party is held to share your happiness as newly-engaged couples, often attended by friends and families of soon-to-be bride and groom. Habitually, the engagement party is hosted by the bride's parents, but friends of the bride and groom and other relatives may want to organize the gathering as well. The engagement party should come soon after the engagement, while the news is still fresh, or is usually done within 2-3 months of the engagement.
Bridal Shower- three months to two weeks before the wedding.
“A bridal shower is a pre-wedding celebration in honor of the bride that traditionally is an opportunity for guests to give her gifts to help set up her new home”, says BRIDES
Bachelorette Party-two to six weeks before the wedding
Bachelorette parties are held to help brides set loose before setting about a new life. This is a small party gathering friends, neighbors or even coworkers, more laid-back and informal than other wedding parties.
“There's no hard-and-fast rule on when to throw the party, but about a month in advance of the wedding is a good timeframe—it's not so close to the big day that the bride will be too stressed or too busy to have fun, but not so far away that it will seem anticlimactic”, says the MARTHASTEWARTWEDDINGS
Rehearsal Dinner- the day before the wedding
The rehearsal dinner is a pre-wedding ceremony at which you practice getting down the aisle in order and let relatives and friends of the bride and groom meet and have a good time.
2. When to send pre-wedding party invitations?
Engagement Party invitations- a month before the celebration
Bridal Shower- 6 to 8 weeks in advance
Bachelorette Party- 6 to 8 weeks in advance
Rehearsal Dinner-4 to 6 weeks before the event
